Professional studio headshots in Dublin that look like you and communicate your expertise.

A bespoke studio headshot is styled for your profession or use case.

Who needs a professional headshot? In my experience, at some point almost everybody working in any kind of customer or public facing jobs. I have captured headshots for doctors, entrepreneurs, solicitors, actors, therapists, sales reps, makeup artists, models, recruiters, DJs, real estate agents, accountants and many more.

The Personal Headshot is a 30 minutes individual session I often do in my home studio in Dublin 13, but can also be done outdoors on location. I also offer corporate headshots at your offices or location for any size of personnel.

What Makes a Good Headshot and What's the Difference to a Portrait?

Depending where you get your headshot done, it can either be carefully designed for you with attention to detail, or in the worst case it can be like a factory assembly line with standard or poor lighting with a photographer just going through the motions.

I like to specialise in the former and bring out the best version of every client. A headshot for a makeup artist or a hairdresser isn't the same as a headshot for a doctor or a lawyer. A Producer or DJ will need a very different type of an image than an actor or author would.

Lighting, pose and expression adjustments throughout a photoshoot.

While the line between a headshot and a portrait can be blurry, a headshot is usually the professional public facing image you put out there on Linkedin, contact sheets or webpages, applications etc., with a standard image size ratio and cropping. Although there are some general guidelines or rules that makes it a headshot and not a portrait, it is much more styled and dimensionally lit than a passport photo, which has very strict rules.

A portrait on the other hand is more like something that goes along with an interview or publication, or just more context and can have a more creative approach for angles, composition, practical in-camera effects and location. A portrait can often tell more about someone as a person, whereas a headshot communicates their profession or expertise.

Headshots captured for two different professional use cases, differentiated by expression. One is more approachable while the other is more standard professional.

This doesn't mean your headshots couldn't be customised and tailored for your field or profession. Lighting choices, backgrounds, colours, styling, posing and facial expressions all play a key part in building the image for your specific use case.
